I’m Kara Richardson Whitely.
There was a point where limits governed everything I did. It took one big goal–achieved by each small step–to change everything. Now I am here to help others stand up for the life they deserve.
I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro weighing as much as 300 pounds. I wrote two memoirs, The Weight of Being: How I Satisfied My Hunger for Happiness and Gorge: My Journey Up Kilimanjaro at 300 Pounds.
Now, Gorge is being made into a movie, produced by and starring Chrissy Metz (from the hit show This Is Us) as me!
““An amazing and inspiring reminder to set our sights high and tackle that big goal you have been wanting to accomplish, ignore any self doubt, and, as Kara said, ‘bet on your own success!’””

Let’s do something great together!
Brand & Fit Consulting
I help brands connect with the plus-sized market. Messaging is as important as fit and function. I consult on both, with an eye towards creating a more inclusive experience for plus-sized people.
Speaking Engagements
I deliver inspiring presentations on perseverance, pushing beyond self & societal limitations to achieve your highest dreams, and inclusion in the outdoors. From small groups to company-wide keynotes.
Workshops & Seminars
Special events designed to move your team forward by inspiring them to set goals and uncover the obstacles that stand in their way, both real and imagined, so that they can succeed.
My virtual presentations are designed to inspire.
I have extensive experience with digital events and have presented over Zoom, Facebook Live, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet. Customize your event with these add-ons or more:
