Meet Kara Richardson Whitely.
Hi, I’m Kara. There was a point where limits governed everything I did. It took one big goal–achieved by each small step–to change everything. Now I am here to help others stand up for the life they deserve.
I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro weighing as much as 300 pounds. I wrote two memoirs, The Weight of Being: How I Satisfied My Hunger for Happiness and Gorge: My Journey Up Kilimanjaro at 300 Pounds. Now, Gorge is being made into a movie, produced by and starring Chrissy Metz (from the hit show This Is Us) as me!
I deliver inspiring presentations on eating disorders (especially Binge Eating Disorder, the most common and least talked about eating disorder), body positivity, inclusion in the outdoors, perseverance, and pushing beyond self & societal limitations to achieve your highest dreams. I have extensive experience with digital events and have presented over Zoom, Facebook Live, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet.
““Through sharing her story, both the highs and the lows, [Kara] serves as an example of hope and growth—and a powerful role model for young adults who are struggling.””
My virtual presentations are designed to inspire.
