Chicago - Unburdening - Healing through Writing

  • The Tavern Club at 333 333 North Michigan Avenue #Suite 400 Chicago, IL 60601 (map)

Kara Richardson, National Recovery Advocate for Eating Recovery Center, is no stranger to struggle. She had to learn how to unburden herself of the emotional weight that comes with being a person who has had a less than friendly relationship with her body, and the space that it inhabits in a culture that actively encourages us to "take up less space."

But what about the healing that comes from recovery? Kara credits much of her recovery to the process of unburdening and release that comes when she puts pen to paper. Writing is a powerful tool as it helps us be the author of our own stories and create narratives that help us survive.

Please join Eating Recovery Center and Insight Behavioral Health Center at The Tavern Club this summer for an interactive healing writing workshop with Kara Richardson-Whitely. She will share her story of recovery from Binge Eating Disorder, and how writing helped her heal. She will then lead participants through a writing exercise to access their own healing through channeling their inner wisdom.

This is a free event and is open to all ERC/Insight alumni, support persons and community members. Light appetizers will be served.
